Welcome to Bruges, Belgium.
(European Cultural Capital in 2002)

Bruges is often called: 'Venice of
the North', because like Venice, Bruges
is
also a fantastic preserved medieval city, divided by canals. But unlike any other
European city, Bruges is unique, and the town authorities do the utmost to
preserve the medieval-looking image of the city.

45.000 people live in the old center of Bruges (120.000 if you count the suburbs).
Bruges is the capital of West-Flanders. A lot of tourists take day-trips
to
Bruges, but there is to much to see here to fill only 1 day.
Bruges is located 20 km from the Belgian coast and directly between
Amsterdam and Paris. Brussels is 1 hour away by train, and new
train and ferry links connect to London.
The best way to visit Bruges is to spend at least one night in
one of the many beautiful and cozy hotels.
Here's a list of hotels in
Bruges.
Note: If you want
to visit Bruges during a weekend,
book your hotels at least 8 weeks in advance!
On the left side, you'll
find links with all the information
you may need to visit this great city. Enjoy your stay!
