WEIRD NEWS

A homeless tramp will be given a taste of the high life
in a new reality TV show called Pimp My Life in Holland.
The Dutch Evangelist Broadcasting Union is behind the
programme, based on MTV's Pimp My Ride. Spokesman
Martin van Oosten told De Morgen: "We want to make
this program because we want to give a future to extremely
poor people. First the presenter will let him taste of the
advantages of luxury. They drive him around in a limousine,
get him new clothes, take him to dinner in fancy
restaurants and book him a room in a fine hotel. Then
he has a week to find himself a job and an apartment.
He will get help from a lot of organisations and proper
training. After that week the tramp must do it on his own."
Broadcasters say the hardest part will be finding a
tramp who can cope with the phsychological pressures
of being turned into a normal citizen in just a week.

A nine-year-old girl faces a trial for causing an accident
after she was knocked over by a car on a zebra crossing.
The youngster, not named for legal reasons, from
Schaffhausen in Switzerland was slightly injured after
she was hit by the car while crossing the road with
her mum and younger sister. The car driver claims
the young girl ran out from behind a bus and straight
into his vehicle, and was therefore a danger to him
and other motorists. She is now being hauled up in
front of the Schaffhausen youth court where she could
face a fine.

Police in Russia are taking to the air in zeppelins to
track criminals and deal with traffic congestion. Moscow
mayor Yuri Lushkov presented five zeppelin airships
to local police. He said they would help monitor the
city's traffic flow and catch fugitive criminals as well
as help control terrorist threats. If the zeppelins live up
to the authorities' expectations, the fleet will be expanded
and smaller, two-seated airships will be added to float
above the busiest roads and key-points of the Russian
capital.
